Summer 2011 (Artist/album link madness)

I don't even know where to start! I have listened to a shitload of excellent music this summer.

For starters I should mention the bands releasing on my label Ominous Recordings later in August:
Avgrunden and Stillheten.
Avgrunden could be described as a more minimalistic Earth or a Bohren & Der Club Of Gore who out of nowhere decided that folk/drone was the new shit.
Stillheten tends to the same crops as Badgerlore and other similar, more folk/ambient, artists, subtle yet powerful and hauntingly beautiful.

Then there's this Harry Pussy compilation "You'll Never Play This Town Again" which I listened several times in a row.

Also, finally, taken myself the time to listen to The Dead C. Started with the albums "Harsh 70's Reality (1992)", "Trapdoor Fucking Exit (1993)" and "The White House (1995)" which are supposed to be the "best" ones.

All three excellent albums, but I have to say that "Trapdoor Fucking Exit" is my personal favorite.

Also got a Lau Nau CD from my drummer. I enjoyed it but didn't think that much about it. It was something else, different but with certain connotations.
But then a week ago I got a mail from discogs saying that one of the items in my "want list" was for sale, (Badgerlore - We Are All Hopeful Farmers, We Are All Scared Rabbits) and then saw that the seller had two albums by Islaja for sale, after realizing it was similar music to Lau Nau, that made me re-listen the Lau Nau album.
It really opened a new world for me, new finnish folk psych.
Since then I have listened to Lau Nau, Islaja and Kuupuu daily. At least one album from one of the artists.

The seller also had a Charalambides album for sale, a reason for me to check out what the Carters are mainly doing, besides working in Bastard Wing and Badgerlore

This is just some of the stuff I have been listening to.
